We moved often to various counties in the Saint Louis area because my knew quality education was based on place. I was now in my junior year and this was my sixth high school that I attended. This school was unlike the others. I was surrounded by middle and upper class families that looked like me. This was a new experience. My obsession for science and mathematics took hold. I immersed myself in this new community, taking part in various clubs, learning, inventing and experimenting. I walked into my guidance counselorÃ¢â¬â¢s office as I did numerous times that year. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Julius Caesar is seen as what the image history has portrayed him as, a fine general of RomeÃ¢â¬â¢s vast military but also a general of an ill mind and ignorance that is upon him. This ill mind and ignorance is derived from his power and the abuse that came with the power. His abuse of power is widely seen throughout The Tragedy of Julius Caesar as he seizes his power from the Rome senate and everyone and everything. This abuse is also summari zed in BrutusÃ¢â¬â¢s response of CaesarÃ¢â¬â¢s power as he describes Caesar as a Ã¢â¬Å"serpent eggÃ¢â¬ and provides a forewarning of the dangers of CaesarÃ¢â¬â¢s power as it becomes more and more prevalent throughout the first half of the story before his death. As it is shown that the assumptions pertaining to Caesar are true; it is also developed that Caesar begins to overlook his surroundings, of which includes his beloved wife, Calphurnia. Gender issues are prevalent in Shakespeare s plays Much Ado About Nothing and Macbeth. Some of the key characteristics relevant to gender issues are masculinity, feminism, honor, bravery, and ambition. These issues will be examined through the dynamics of three couples, Hero and Claudio, Beatrice and Benedict, and Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. Such an action is the ultimate betrayal to Claudio s honor. Similarly, the public accusation made by Claudio is a black eye to the honor of Hero s family. But in the end, Hero was the virtuous lady everyone wanted her to be. Hero and Claudio play the foil to the pessimistic couple, Beatrice and Benedict. Beatrice and Benedict are the cynics of love and romance. Their attitudes and relationship often breaks from the gender norms. In the beginning of the play both preached that marriage is an institution not meant for either. Beatrice is a free and uninhibited strong female. She eventually consents to marriage after she expresses her objections to the traditional voiceless role of the woman in a relationship. Her constant verbal sparring with Benedict shows she will not be the typical apathetic female in the marriage. Benedict is a fanaticizer who becomes smitten with the idea of Beatrice being in love with him. Benedict also exhibits honor, bravery, and loyalty by challenging his friend Claudio to a duel after he was asked to do so by Beatrice. The courtship of Beatrice and Benedict sharply contrasts that of Hero and Claudio. Hero submitted to marriage and accepted her docile role while Beatrice chose marriage after showing her disapproval to the gender structure of marriage. The gender issues in Macbeth are often skewed. Sometimes a character will fall into the proper gender identity, but often it appears that roles are reversed between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. In the beginning Macbeth is brave man of honor. He was loyal and defended his king s honor as well as his own when he attacked the castle of the traitor, Macdonwald. Macbeth shows the masculinity of men as well as women. In Lady Macbeth it can be seen that some women are just like men in their quest for power and success. It is to the point where it seems Lady Macbeth is a man trapped in a woman s body. She is filled with greed and envy and will use any person or thing to get what she wants. When learning of the witches prophecy she feared that Macbeth was not ruthless enough to ensure the attainment of his ambitions, to full o th milk of human kindness to murder Duncan. So she took it upon herself to make things happen. She calls upon heavenly powers to unsex me here and fill her with cruelty, taking from her all natural womanly compassion. Later she reinforces this rejection of her femininity by saying she would go so far as to cast off all motherly sentiments that go with it by bashing the brains out of hew own baby to attain her goals. Lady Macbeth taunts Macbeth for his fears and ambivalence, saying he will only be a man when he commits the murder of Duncan. She sees feminine virtues as being remorseful, peaceful, kind and soft and calls Macbeth womanish. Macbeth is indecisive, he knows right and wrong, but sees his biggest flaw is not a lack of moral values but a lack of motivation and gumption. On the other hand Lady Macbath has such a vision and drive for advancement that she makes the murder happen and pushes Macbeth into doing it by pour spirits in [Macbeth s] ear. If comparisons are made between the couples in both plays it can be seen that in public Lady Macbeth and Macbeth appear to be as Hero and Claudio, but behind closed doors there is a strong minded woman swaying her influence similar to the relationship between Beatrice and Benedict. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth want to appear to be like Hero and Claudio, the flawless norm in marriage, so that they don t bring suspicion upon themselves for the murders they have committed. Like Claudio, Macbeth needs to project an image of bravery and honor if he is to be respected as a king. Although they are fundamentally different in their heart, Beatrice and Lady Macbeth are similar in that they are both strong-minded opinionated women who have certain expectations of their man. Satis House Essay Pip first goes to see Miss Havisham when he is called by her to go and play at Satis House. He had heard of Miss Havisham before up in town, as an immensely rich and grim lady who lived in a large and dismal house. As Pip enters the house for the first time the size of the house becomes apparent to the reader but also the fact that it has no heart. As Pip meets Miss Havisham for the first time, he describes her as the strangest lady I have ever seen, or shall ever see. It is also evident to Pip that she is very wealthy and is described as wearing rich materials-satins; he is also aware of the fact that everything she is wearing is white but has become a faded yellow: But I saw everything within my view which ought to be white long ago, and had lost its lustre, and was faded and yellow. The extraordinary state of her clothing also says a great deal about her state of mind. Pip is terrified by her peculiarity and appearance and describes her as like wax work and a skeleton and corpse like. These are horrific images for a young child and would be very intimidating for an adult let alone a young child: I should have cried out if I could. This frightening a scary image of Miss Havisham has an even stronger influence on Pip by the fact he is a boy made sensitive by Mrs Joe. On Pips second visit to Satis House, Miss Havishams relations are at the house as it is her birthday, trying to secure some of Miss Havishams money. She uses Pip to spite them by making them think that Pip will get all her money. This shows her cynical attitude as she enjoys infuriating her relatives. This is an example of Miss Havisham constantly developing the thought in Pips mind that Estella is intended for Pip. She points out Estellas outstanding beauty to Pip, constantly nurturing his growing love for her. Estella is Miss Havishams weapon against men: Break their hearts, my pride and hope, break their hearts and have no mercy. This is what she is using Pip for. As Pip falls deeper in love with Estella the more he becomes a victim to Miss Havisham and her cynical plan to hurt men through Estella. Miss Havisham debatably has the largest influence over Pip than any of the four women in the novel. This is because of one reason; this is because of one reason. She makes Pip unhappy with whom he is. Now, it was coarse and common, and I would not have Miss Havisham and Estella see it on any account. Although it is Estella who makes Pip unhappy about his social class and background and the prospect of him being a blacksmith and makes him want to be something he is not it is Miss Havisham who makes Estella treat Pip in this appalling manner. I felt more than ever dissatisfied with my home and with my trade and with everything; and that was all I took by that motion. Miss Havisham frequently throughout the novel plays up to Pip that she is his benefactor one example of this is when Pip is in preparation to leave for London and he visits Miss Havisham to tell her the good news. His visit coincides with the visit of Miss Havishams relatives. She makes Sarah Pocket remain in the room while Pip and Miss Havisham talk about London and Miss Havisham encourages Pip to believe she is his benefactor to spite Sarah and her relatives She quite gloated on these questions and answers, so keen was her enjoyment of Sarah Pockets jealous dismay. So this makes Pip more certain that Miss Havisham is his benefactor and that surely Estella is intended for him; resulting in more misery for Pip. The strange and bizarre nature of Miss Havishams behaviour is understood when Herbert Pocket reveals her life story. She was tricked out of a small fortune by her fianci Compeyson who then jilted her on their marriage day. This explains her desire to hurt and break hearts of all men through Estella. This also explains why Miss Havisham is so vengeful maybe verging on insane. Her role in the novel is to instil the belief into Pip that he and Estella are meant to be and her encouragement to Pip of being his benefactor. Miss Havisham towards the end of her life realises the enormity of her actions as she has ruined Pip and Estellas lives. She, like Mrs Joe, shows remorse and begs Pip for his forgiveness My name is on the first leaf. If you can ever write under my name, I forgive her, though ever so long after my broken heart has turned to dust-Pray do it! So Miss Havisham does show genuine repentance to Pip. Thus also at the end like Mrs. Joe is presented as sadly human. Miss Havisham and Mrs. Joe shape and mould Pip into the person we are familiar with in the novel. Their influences are vital for Pips character and the plot throughout the story.

Thus, the law is inappropriate by engendering an influx of prisoners to an already overflowing prison system and an unbearable financial burden. Where to Find IB Physics Past Papers - Free and Official SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips When you take the IB Physics exam, you'll be nervous no matter what. But having seen a practice test beforehand will be a huge benefit since you'll know the format of the test cold and will be used to the length and style of the test. In this article, I will at least try to get you familiar with the exam format by exposing you to IB Physics past papers, both free and paid. I'll also share strategies on how best to use these IB Physics tests for your own exam prep. Where to Find Free Past Papers Because the IB has gotten very strict in recent years about people illegally uploading past papers, a lot of previous sources aren't available any more. Furthermore, IBO has yet to upload a free sample Physics paper on its website for students to use as practice (although if it does, we'll update this article with a link). I have not been able to find any unofficial IB Physics past papers (ones created from scratch). You should be very wary of any you find. I DO NOT recommend using them, as they may be very different from the actual IB Physics exam. The same thing goes for exams you might find by searching for "IB Physics past papers" online- because they're not officially released by IBO, there's no way to know if they're real (and so illegally uploaded) or constructed (and so not reflective of the actual test). Your best bet for practicing with actual tests, rather than just reviewing your notes and quizzes, is to buy real IB tests. Where to Find Paid IB Physics Tests The IBO sells the IB Physics SL and HL past papers from November 2015 to November 2018 on their website. This is the only safe place to get IB Physics past papers to download. To find them, search for "physics exam paper." From there, you can sort by release date and language. Each paper and each mark scheme costs $3 (or $3.99 for the most recent exam). One full exam (including paper 1, paper 2, paper 3, and the mark scheme for each) will cost you about $18. Buying all of the past papers and mark schemes from 2015-2018 can end up costing hundreds of US dollars, so if you're looking to spend as little as possible, I recommend just purchasing the most recent (May 2018 and November 2018) past papers, as they will be closest to what you learned. 3 Strategies to Use IB Physics Past Papers Effectively Because each practice test takes 3 hours for SL or 4.5 hours for HL, it's important that you get the most out of each test. Here are important tips to keep in mind when you're taking the tests: #1: Take Papers 1 and 2 Consecutively If Possible The IB Physics SL and IB Physics HL papers are a marathon, forcing you to sit and concentrate for 2 hours for SL and 3 hours and 15 minutes for HL. You need to build up endurance so you don't make careless mistakes at the end of the test. By taking the practice test in one sitting, you build up important endurance for the real test. If you don't have time in your schedule for a 2-hour or 3-hour 15-minute session, then splitting it up over multiple days is OK. Just make sure you follow the next rule: #2: Keep Strict Timing on Each Section with a Timer It is essential that you get used to the timing pressures on the IB Physics papers. A rule of thumb is to spend at least 1.5 hours reviewing every full practice tests. This takes a lot of time, but emphasize quality of learning over quantity of learning. The research was a novel idea since I was able to have a buildup of basic information before deciding on the sites, places, and any festival to visit based on research from the materials. For a country with a population estimate of sixty-six million and 643,801 square kilometers in size, France is slightly less than Texas in size. The local people call it a hexagon with the hexagon being the country's symbol, due to its shape (Whittaker 6). However, the country boasts of mixed geographical features. In this case, part of the countryÃ¢â¬â¢s terrain is mountainous or mountainous terrain with a coastline with other parts having gently rolling hills or flat plains as terrain (CIA). As a result, the terrain makes for a picturesque scene to anybody who loves adventure. Nonetheless, the scenery would not be pleasing in case of unaccommodating climatic conditions. In effect, the countryÃ¢â¬â¢s climatic conditions vary from one region to the other. However, climatic conditions in France are a blend of cool winters and mild summers. Some parts experience tropical and humid conditions, tropical and marine climatic conditions, and other parts in the country experience hot and rainy conditions (CIA). These climatic conditions are in different periods of the year and in different locations. In effect, this makes the country offer tourists the best climatic conditions during their visits. Politically, France is a blend of the parliamentary and presidential systems of governance and Paris is the country's administrative capital. During the middle ages, the French and the English were rivals with the latter occupying France during the infamous hundred yearsÃ¢â¬â¢ war. However, the rivalry eased over time with the two nations engaging each other to play an influential role in the modern society. In this regard, France is a member of NATO and a permanent member to the UN Security Council (CIA). Economically, the country is in the middle of the euro zone crisis although the countryÃ¢â¬â¢s GDP in 2011 was $2.246 trillion, which made it the tenth biggest in terms of GDP (CIA). With a blend of all religions of the world, a majority of the people in France are predominantly Christians. Conversely, French is the official language although there are various dialects of the language. The language is the dictate upon which the French culture is built (Whittaker 5). On the othe r hand, each region in the country embodies its own cultural path based on its history. For example, the north and northeastern regions of the country are widely known for their ancient and medieval architecture. These regions encompass Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions. Among the cultural icons from these regions are Charles de Gaulle, Christian Dior, and Claude Monet (Whittaker 10). For Paris, the city is a depiction of iconic landmarks and grand designs that have an attachment to the culture of the French people. These designs and landmarks are internationally renowned with each providing visitors with a lasting impression of the city. One such landmark is the famous Eiffel Tower (see Fig. 1), which is one of the wonders of the contemporary world
